About the Role

We’re recruiting for an experienced Site Shift Supervisor to join a busy manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on operational role, leading a small shift team and taking responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the site during your shift.

You’ll be very much out in the operation, making sure production runs safely, problems are dealt with quickly and the team knows exactly what needs to be achieved.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading and supporting a team of up to 7 people

  • Overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations

  • Making sure production runs safely and efficiently

  • Managing shift handovers and daily operational communication

  • Responding to breakdowns and prioritising Engineering support

  • Arranging cover and managing resources across the shift

  • Monitoring quality and dealing with issues as they arise

  • Driving improvements in safety, productivity, waste and efficiency

  • Managing high-risk work permits/clearances

  • Taking control of site operations during out-of-hours emergencies

  • Keeping SAP/production information accurate

  • Getting stuck in and taking a hands-on approach when required

Safety is a major part of this position. The site operates under top-tier COMAH requirements, so we’re looking for somebody comfortable working within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll ideally come from a manufacturing, chemical, process or similarly regulated environment and already have experience supervising or leading an operational team.

You’ll need strong people-management skills, good IT ability and experience of manufacturing systems such as SAP/MRP. Previous experience on a top-tier COMAH site would be a big advantage, although the original specification lists this as advantageous rather than essential.

Most importantly, we want somebody who can lead from the front, make decisions, solve problems and keep a manufacturing operation running safely and effectively.

This isn't an office-based management role. It's a proper hands-on manufacturing leadership position.
