CNC Laser Operator
Rotating shifts : 6 am – 2pm, then 2pm to 10 pm – with the option to work until midnight Monday to Thursday and have Friday off – total hours for all roles is 37.5 per week with 30 mins unpaid lunch.
Rate of pay : £14.50
We are seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have previous CNC machining experience, with laser cutting experience being highly desirable. You will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser cutting machines to produce high-quality sheet metal components.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines.
Load and unload sheet metal safely.
Read and interpret engineering drawings.
Select the correct programs and materials for production.
Monitor machine performance throughout production runs.
Carry out first-off and in-process quality inspections.
Ensure components meet customer specifications.
Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
Report machine faults or quality concerns promptly.
Work to production schedules and targets.
Maintain a safe and tidy working area.
Requirements
Previous CNC manufacturing experience is essential.
Previous laser cutting experience is preferred but not essential.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Experience using measuring equipment (verniers, calipers, etc.).
Good problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable Skills (for the CNC Laser Operator)
Experience with Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada, or similar laser machines.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication.
Forklift or overhead crane experience.
Lean manufacturing knowledge.
Basic machine programming or editing experience.
